Tutor FAQ's  |  Effective Tutoring  |  5 Step Reading Process  |  Using TIME

Interested, caring, well-trained, volunteer reading mentors are the backbone of the Time To Read program.

To be effective reading mentors, volunteers are not expected to become reading teachers. Rather, the training goal is to be comfortable using Time To Read methods and materials, in order to foster learners' literacy skills and reading confidence. Mentors also should be ready to serve as literacy role models, showing learners how they use reading and writing daily and why good literacy skills are important in all walks of life.

Use the resources in this section to review the 5-Step Reading Process and key concepts introduced in the training session. Reading mentors, program coordinators and parents will find resources and answers you can use.
